Privacy Policy — Bare: Couple Games & Questions

Last updated: 16.09.2026

Bare is designed to be private by default. The conversations you have while playing are yours alone — they are never typed into the app, never recorded, and never transmitted anywhere.

The short version

What is stored on your device

All of the following stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else:

What Why Where
Whether you've completed onboarding So we don't show the intro twice App storage
Your game progress (the Gauge) So you don't lose your streak when you close the app App storage
Number of free cards used To apply the free-usage limit Device keychain
Whether you've purchased the full version So your purchase is recognized instantly App storage + Apple

About the keychain: the count of free cards used is stored in your device's secure keychain rather than in normal app storage. Keychain data is not erased when an app is deleted, which means the free-usage limit is remembered if you reinstall Bare. This value is a single number. It contains no personal information, is not linked to your identity, is not synced to iCloud, and is not readable by us or by any other app.

Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details, card number, or billing address. To confirm what you've bought, the app asks Apple's StoreKit service about purchases associated with your Apple Account on this device. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Bare schedules a weekly reminder locally on your device (currently Fridays at 5:30 PM your local time). These are local notifications — no push server, no device token, no message is sent over the internet, and we receive no information about whether you open them. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Bare.

Children

Bare is intended for adults and contains questions about relationships and intimacy. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Please see the app's age rating on the App Store.

Data we could not give away if we wanted to

Because Bare has no servers and no account system, there is no database of users to breach, sell, subpoena, or hand to a third party. We cannot see which questions you were asked, how you answered, or when you played.
